As awards-season buzz builds around Rose Byrne, it felt like the perfect moment to revisit her beauty routine.
We last spoke to the star for our Fall 2023 cover while she was filming Season 3 of Apple TV+’s comedy-drama Physical. At the time, she shared that she keeps her routine streamlined and refreshingly unfussy, with a dash of ’80s nostalgia. “I do like a very large shoulder pad, slouchy and broad,” she said. “And I think it’s safe to say that look has definitely made a bit of a comeback.”
When it comes to everyday skin-care heroes, she expressed her love for affordable classics. “I love the brand Heritage Store. It’s such a reasonable price and they make clean, fresh products that work; I especially love the Rosewater Toner and Rosewater Facial Mist. Weleda Skin Food is also a classic.”
Byrne was also quick to embrace high-performance treatments, recommended by her team of trusted experts. “Shani Darden Triple Acid Signature Peel is just incredible. My facialist in New York, Fabricio Ormonde, recently introduced me to Allies of Skin; I love the brand’s Multi Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum.”
Sun protection, she said, is a non-negotiable, a mindset shaped by her Australian upbringing. “When I first came to the States, it was almost shocking how everyone here viewed sun care—there just seems to be a lot less education in the U.S. Growing up in Australia, you are taught at school at such an early age about sun damage and cancer risks associated with too much UV. I always put on a.m. SPF.” Her go-tos: “I like Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen and I also like Suntegrity Impeccable Skin for a little base with the sunscreen.”
For in-office glow, Byrne professed her love of trusted New York institutions and a Brooklyn gem. “Fabricio Ormonde and Christine Chin Salon are my musts for facials! I also love Reedchy in Brooklyn for nails and a good foot massage.”
And because beauty extends beyond skin care, Byrne shared that she prioritizes movement and moments of calm. “I discovered Alo Moves Whole Body Opening online class during lockdown and I still do it now. It’s a great total stretch that’s 30 minutes. If I’m near a beach, I’ll always have a swim—there is nothing more soothing to me.”
